Family Time

Join us at our Free Learning & Play Group!

Family Time offers a safe and trauma-informed learning environment for children (ages 0-5) to play, explore, and learn while caregivers and parents can simultaneously participate and practice evidence-based skills that promote healthy child development and positive relationships. Playgroup leaders help model and facilitate interactions that strengthen bonds with children that help social emotional learning and preschool readiness.

Many learning activities are offered at Family Time including community and process art, exploration of natural materials and loose parts, building, music, dance, stories, and books.

Family Time is a free program of Connections for Children. Playgroups currently meet in-person in two locations:

  • On the first and third Friday of the month at the Santa Monica Public Library.
    • Pico Branch at 2201 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405 in the Thelma Terry Building and sometimes The Annex.
  • On the second and fourth Friday of the month at The Katy Geisert Civic Center Library in Torrance.
    • 3301 Torrance Blvd. Torrance, CA 90503 on the first floor in the Meeting Room starting on October 25th, 2024.

Family Time provides caregivers and parents with strategies to prepare young children for healthy development, preschool, and kindergarten, which are critical elements in their future success as life-long learners.
